Car Number Plates
What you need to know about the rules
Due largely to increasing levels of vehicle-related crime, strict regulations have been put in place which govern the manufacture, supply and display of UK car number plates.
UK companies who supply number plates for use as on-road car registration plates (sometimes called DVLA number plates or DVLA registrations) are required to see certain documentation from the purchaser. These include two forms of approved personal identification and proof of registration (vehicle “log book” etc).
Acrylicplates.co.uk is not a UK company, and only sells plastic plates for show plate purposes, thus our customers are saved the inconvenience and delay of sending documents by post. Our terms of business require that customers only use our product for off-road display. We do not approve of, or knowingly assist in, the contravening of regulations.
It is in the best interests of drivers, and society in general, to have car number plates displayed clearly and in accordance with officially prescribed specifications. In recent years false or unreadable car number plates have been used to evade detection by robbers, speeding drivers, illegal parkers, congestion charge evaders and petrol station “drive-away” thieves, to name just a few.
Vehicle “cloning”, a deceptive practice whereby the number plates of a vehicle are illegally replaced with copies of those from a different vehicle, has grown enormously, and innocent drivers sometimes find themselves under suspicion of crimes actually committed by the drivers of cloned cars.
Penalties for the incorrect display of DVLA number plates are severe, and Acrylicplates.co.uk strongly urges all customers to ensure that they adhere to the regulations.
